Ministries & Programs
From outreach ministries in our neighborhood and around the world, to fellowship groups and youth and family ministries, to music and worship ministries, there are opportunities for everyone to be a part of the mission and ministry that take place in our congregation all week long.
Our spiritual growth programs include Christian education programs for all ages, and small groups which bring us together in small groups for Bible study and faith sharing as we build our community. We also have two wonderful and welcoming fellowship groups: Koinonia (which meets on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month) and Affirming Spirits (which meets after church for a potluck on the 3rd Sunday of each month).
Outreach Ministries
Our congregation is committed to reaching out into our community and world to share the love and gifts God has shared with us. We share generously through our budgeted financial gifts, supporting local and global justice and mission ministries, and through many hands-on projects all year long.
Join Us in Our Ministry:
- Preparing Meals for Those in Need – On the first & third Fridays of the month, join members of our congregation in our church kitchen to prepare and deliver meals for people living with HIV/AIDS and the homeless.
- Homework Center Volunteer – Monday through Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. volunteer your skills and talents as a tutor at our after school homework center. New tutors are always welcome.
- Food on Wheels – The second Friday of each month, this new program prepares meals for the homeless living throughout San Bernardino, and delivers the food the following day.
- Food for Friends – The First Sunday of every month is when we collect Food for Friends – non perishable food items that are shared with Central City Lutheran Mission (CCLM) and other local groups that minister to those in need.
- Zipbag Sunday – SBUCC also provides other special offerings and programs throughout the year, such as our Zipbag Sunday, when we collect toiletries and personal care products for our local battered women’s shelter, or our One Great Hour of Sharing for global development and disaster relief. Toiletry items are also collected throughout the year.
